Steven Post ’71

Steven Post ’71 of Adairsville, Georgia,  passed away unexpectedly at his home in Adairsville, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stuart and Helena Post of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is survived by his sister Kathryn Post, of Las Cruces, New Mexico and his brother Jim Post, of Riverview, Florida, nephew Scott Rosenthal and wife Jaimee of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and great-nephew Stanton Rosenthal, age 9, and great-niece Clara Rosenthal, age 4. Steve was born on November 24, 1949 in Quincy, Massachusetts. Because it was Thanksgiving, when Helena began to feel uncomfortable everyone told her, incorrectly, that she had simply overeaten. Shortly thereafter, Steve made his appearance! The family moved back to Grand Rapids, Michigan where Steve enjoyed a wonderful childhood filled with close friends and many adventures. He participated in activities at church and school. Steve ran cross country at Ottawa Hills High School and graduated in 1967, then graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He obtained his Master’s Degree at Nova Southeastern University in Florida and enjoyed a career as a Research and Development Manager at Superior Essex Corporate HQ in Atlanta. Steve remained active and enthusiastic throughout his life. His home, in the beautiful rolling north Georgia countryside, adjoined the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest where he took long walks. He also enjoyed kayaking and studying the Civil War period. Steve will be remembered for his sense of humor, his enthusiasm and his love for family and friends. He appreciated nature, gardening and traveling. Steve had a memorable trip to South America with his brother, Jim, with whom he was very close. Steve returned to Grand Rapids throughout his life to visit family and lifelong friends. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. A family memorial service will be held in Chagrin Falls, Ohio later this spring.
