Roger Roelofs ’57

Roger Gordon Roelofs, age 83, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 21, 2020. He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, John Meengs and Richard Campbell; and sister-in-law, Florence Campbell. Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn (Campbell) Roelofs, children, David and Carol Roelofs (of Byron Center, MI), Linda and Randy Rowland (of Flagstaff, AZ), Laura and Todd Vandawater (of Franklin, TN); grandchildren, Randall and Ashley Rowland, Brandon Rowland, Matthew, Mason, and Luke Vandawater; sister, Marilyne Meengs; sister-in-law, Patricia Campbell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rog was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed dearly. Rog worked for Bissell and their subsidiaries as a cost accountant, and later general manager, for his entire career until his retirement in 2000. He loved working on and restoring old cars (particularly classic Mustangs), enjoyed following the stock market, and always was up for a round of golf. Roger also served as a deacon and elder at Unity Reformed Church and dedicated his time as treasurer for Wexford Villas Condo Association. Rog and Marilyn spent many of their winter months in the Gulf Shores area. The family would like to thank the staff of Beacon Hill Skilled Nursing, especially those nurses and aides on the second floor, for the kind and loving care they provided Rog.
