Harris Verkaik ’55

Harris Verkaik ’55, died Thursday, April 5, 2018. He was the son of the late Harry and Ann Verkaik of Yucaipa, CA. He received his BA degree from Hope College and MDiv degree from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, MI, and a doctorate degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. He served as vice president for the Herman R. Rosenburg Evangelistic Association and Outreach Inc. He pastored six churches including Oakview Reformed (founding Pastor) in Grand Rapids, MI, 1st Reformed of Mt. Greenwood in Chicago, 1st Reformed of Sheldon, IA, Zion Reformed of Grandville, MI, Calvary Reformed of South Holland, IL, and Fellowship Reformed of Hudsonville, MI. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jane Ann Cichy. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Jane; children, David H. (Caroline) Verkaik, Deborah (Tom) DeVrou, and Katherine (Daniel) Hunt; son-in-law, Levi Cichy; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother William H. (Carole) Verkaik. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Fellowship Reformed Church, 6610 36th Ave., Hudsonville, MI. Interment will be at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet his family Friday, April 13, 2018 from 4-8 PM and Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 10-11 AM at Fellowship Reformed Church.
