Elaine Brower ’51 Bouman

Elaine Brower ’51 Bouman, age 89, of Holland went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

Elaine grew up in Holland and graduated from Holland High School, Class of 1946. She attended Hope College with an interest in nursing. She was married in 1951 to Harlen C. Bouman and had three children.

They were members of the Forks Club formed by several Holland-area families and spent wonderful times there. They enjoyed spending time in Florida, boating, and loved entertaining their children andgrandchildren.

Elaine was a loyal member of Christ Memorial Church, was active member at Evergreen Commons, and most importantly, was a wonderful homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. She enjoyed going for walks, gardening, picnics on the patio, and having tea with family and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harlen C.

Bouman; sister, Lois Kessel, and brother, Hollis Brower. She is survived by her children, Steven Ross Bouman, Robert C.

DeJonge, Teg DeJonge, Brittany (Ryan) Garvelink, Ben Bouman, Jenna Bakker, Troy (Andrea) Bouman, Terra (Luis) Gonzales, Claire Van Grouw, Erin Van Grouw, Alison Van Grouw; 8 great-grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Marcello, Vin, Artie, Irina, Ava Elaine, and Harper, as well as a sister-in-law Charlotte (Lloyd) Schaap, and beloved nieces and nephews.

A time of fellowship celebrating Elaine’s life will be 6-9 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at Langeland- Sterenberg, 315 East 16th Street, Holland. A private graveside service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland.
