Edith Wolbrink ’46 McMullin

Edith Wolbrink ’46 McMullin, age 93, of Allendale, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on February 22, 2018. She was born July 11, 1924 in Coopersville, and was a lifetime resident of Allendale. She graduated from Coopersville High School, Hope College, and did graduate work at Western Michigan University. On June 1, 1945, she married Charles William McMullin with whom she was blessed to have 65 years of love and devotion. She taught for four years in the Allendale Public Schools, and served for 18 years as a librarian in the Grand Haven Public Schools. She was active in community affairs, serving on the boards of the Allendale Historical Society and the Allendale Public Library. Edith was a lifetime member of the Reformed Church in America in the First Reformed Church of Allendale and in her later years the Fellowship Reformed Church of Hudsonville. She served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher and Bible Studies leader, and Church Librarian. Edith was a devoted mother and mother-in-law, and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Charles William McMullin Jr. (Janice) of Gainesville, Virginia; daughters, Laura Ambrose (Robert) of West Bloomfield, MI, and Marla Walters (Richard) of Zeeland, MI; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Evans (Ken), Christopher McMullin (Jennie), Mary Katherine Ambrose (Carsten Clark), Robert Ambrose III (Kate), Eric Ambrose (Teri), Elizabeth Walters and Ryan Walters; 7 great-grandchildren; Alice, William and Edward McMullin, Bruno and Charles Clark, and Hailey and Colin Ambrose. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Koop (Robert); sister-in-law, Peggy McMullin; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Family and friends may greet the McMullin family at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 6651 Scott St., Allendale, on Monday, February 26 from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 27 at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Reformed Church, 6610 36th Ave., Hudsonville, with Pastor Michael VanBuren and Pastor John Nauta officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Fellowship Reformed Church or Hospice of Holland.
