Dale Quackenbush ’79

Dale Quackenbush ’79, 62, formerly of Warwick, NY passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at his home in Holland, MI after a long battle with chronic kidney disease. Dale was born December 8, 1955 in Middletown, NY. He was the son of the late Wallace and Marion (Shorter) Quackenbush of Warwick, NY. Dale was a member of the Warwick Reformed Church, Warwick, NY and a graduate of Warwick Valley High School. He received his B.A. in English Literature from Hope College in MI. He studied at Life Church Leadership College, MI. He later received his Master’s degree from Grand Valley State University, MI. Dale was a mentor/tutor for the Upward Bound Program in Michigan. He was a teen advocate/counselor in the Michigan Court System. He was employed for more than 20 years by the Grand Rapid Press. He was a minister at large at the Church of Light in Michigan. Dale loved to sing in his church choir and the choir at Hope College. He loved fishing with family and friends. He had many fond memories of time spent on Cousin Al’s farm in Edenville, NY. He enjoyed trivia, video games, and long lengthy discussions on religion, politics and literary works. Dale is survived by his sister, Diane Gallondorn of Port Jervis, NY; two nieces: Pamela Dunleavy (Mike) of Port Jervis, NY and Dawn Gallondorn-Lory(Darin) of Middletown, NY; two nephews: Kenneth Costic (Diane) of Port Jervis, NY and Mark Gallondorn (Amanda) of Mason, OH; one aunt, Muriel Quackenbush of Warwick, NY; and many special cousins and friends. Dale was recently predeceased by his brother-in-law, Thomas Gallondorn of Port Jervis, NY and his uncle, Morton Quackenbush of Warwick, NY. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY. Reverend Linden DeBie officiating. Interment immediately following at Warwick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dale’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
