Stanley McClure ’53

Stanley McClure ’53 and Florence Passed away of natural causes within hours of each other over the weekend at Spectrum Health of Ludington.

They were married for over 66 years. Florence was born January 16, 1931 in Muskegon. She was a housewife, and the daughter of William & Josephine (Sadlejia) King. She attended Muskegon Heights High School and was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Florence was 86 years old at the time of her passing.

Stanley was born September 4, 1927 in Holland. He was an auto body repairman, and the son of William & Julia (West) McClure. Raised in Holland, he attended high school in Ottawa County. Stanley enlisted in the army during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines. After serving in the army, he attended Hope College where he played football.

Stanley was 89 years old at the time of his passing. Stanley and Florence met in Muskegon where they married and started their family. In the early 1970’s, they moved to Walhalla and enjoyed their lives together as active members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Custer. Preceding them in death are their parents and son, Daniel McClure. They are survived by their children, Lynda (Dave) Cierlak, William (Debbie) McClure, Kathleen (Earl) Standish, Robert (Therese) McClure, and John McClure, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
