Jon Dykema ’68

Jon William Dykema, age 77 of Holland, MI, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023, in his home with his wife of 44 years, Carol, at his side. He was born on November 30, 1945, in Kalamazoo, MI to Bill and Lois Dykema.
Jon attended Loy Norrix High School, then Howe Military School, and graduated from Hope College. He served his country in the US Army Reserve for six years. In 1978, Jon united in marriage to Carol Napier Gibson, and a year later, they moved to Arizona, where he worked in trust and personal banking. In 2004, Jon returned to Michigan to be close to his children and grandchildren who also migrated back.
Jon enjoyed playing racquetball and tennis, winning many club championships. He also enjoyed traveling to Mexico and the game of golf.
Jon will always be remembered and missed by his wife, Carol; sons, Brian and Greg Gibson (Chelsea Cleland); daughters, Jennifer (Dave) Mann and Rachel (Daniel) Kelleher; 11 grandchildren: Brandon, Bryce, and Lexi Gibson, Dayne Arnett, Willow Cleland, Christopher and Julia Mann, and Frank, Hope, Pearl and Grace Kelleher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lois; and his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Dick Triestram.
