Paul Warnshuis

Paul R. Warnshuis, age 95 of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021. He was born in Allegan, MI December 9, 1925, the son of Henry W. and Alida (Prins) Warnshuis. A graduate of Ionia High School, he served his country in the US Navy in WWII and was a graduate of Hope College. He married Dolores Thomas on September 10, 1949. Paul was the retired owner of the C.J. Nye Insurance Agency and was very active in the Greenville community. He served as a member of the Montcalm Community College Board of Trustees. He was active in the Greenville Rotary Club for over 55 years and was awarded Rotarian of the Year Award three times. He was instrumental in coordinating the Rhythm on the River concert series and Greenville’s hosting of Drum Corp competitions. He was a founding member of the Education Foundation of Greenville, serving as president for many years. In 2015, he received Greenville Public Schools “School Bell Award”. He also helped fund an annual Jazz Band scholarship. Paul’s passions were music, baseball, and travel, but most of all his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dolores, and his son, David T. Warnshuis. He is survived by his son, Mark (Cynthia) Warnshuis; grandchildren, Katherine (Bruce) Aiittama, Darrick Gibbs, Thomas (Carly) Warnshuis, and Jessica (Jamison) Messer; and great-grandchildren, Addison, Callen, Aubrey, Sophie, Shane, Joseph, and Davis. Also surviving are his wife, Janet Ralph Warnshuis and her family; his sister, Mary Flint; brother-in-law, Gayle; and many nieces and nephews. A Special Concert will be held at a future date.
