Nancy Andrews ’52 Brown

Nancy Andrews Brown (previously Schuiteman), age 90, passed away peacefully at her care home in Vista, CA.
She battled Alzheimer’s for over 10 years. Laughing was a trademark of Nancy’s, known for her practical jokes and silly stories. Her mantra was, “Be thoughtful, kind, and loving.” Nancy loved to travel, paint, golf, read, walk on the beach, and most of all she loved animals. Nancy traveled to over 30 countries and to every state. Nancy was born in Albany, New York to Herbert and Helen Andrews and lived in Albany and Delmar, New York. She graduated from Bethlehem High School, attended Hope College in Holland Michigan for nurse training and it’s also where she met her first husband, Robert Schuiteman. She eventually transferred to the University of Michigan. Nancy lived in Illinois, Bogotá Columbia, and Winchester, MA, but loved her summer cottage in the Cape Ann area where she would sail, swim, and sun regularly. This area was not unfamiliar to Nancy, as she grew up visiting her Uncle in Essex, MA regularly. In the early 80s, Nancy moved to San Diego, California and fell in love with the west coast lifestyle. Nancy worked as a Registered Nurse for many years until she remarried in the late nineties to Robert Brown, where her primary focus was to travel, golf, and enjoy friendships. Nancy is survived by her sister, brother, daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A remembrance gathering is planned for family and friends in Essex, MA at Nancy’s beloved place next summer.
