Benjamin Le Fevre ’55

Benjamin Le Fevre, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital.

He was born on May 31, 1933, in Weedsport, New York, son of the late Irving LeFevre and Grace Gifford.

Ben graduated from Dumont High School in 1951 as Valedictorian of his class. Ben then went on to attend Hope College in Holland, Michigan graduating in 1955.  Following graduation, Ben joined the army and served from 1955 to 1957. Ben received his Master of Divinity degree from New Brunswick Theological Seminary in 1960. Ben’s first calling as a Minister was at the Glen Reformed Church where he served for 4 years. Ben then accepted a position as the Minister of the Arlington Reformed Church in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he served for over 30 years before retiring. During his time as a Minister, he touched the lives and hearts of many with his gentle demeanor, and love for people.

Benjamin enjoyed the great outdoors. He and his family camped in a travel trailer during the summer months, and traveled all over the U.S. Ben loved golf, cross country skiing, and looking for turtles with the love of his life, Nancy. Ben also loved watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.

Ben is survived by his son, Stephen Le Fevre (Suzanne), granddaughters, Sarah and Hannah of Saratoga Springs, NY; daughter, Lori Cherry (Steven) of Boynton Beach, FL; Brother-in-law, Colyer Crum; sister-in-law, Alice Le Fevre; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Nancy, and brothers, Gifford and Edward.
