Vincent Robert Kleyla III born May,16 1941 passed away peacefully on February 6, 2020. He was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2017 but rose to the challenge, keeping as active and engaged as was possible every step of the way. He wanted to make a difference and participated in a Lewy Body biomarkers study at the University of Michigan so he could possibly “help others that have this insidious disease”.

Vince was born in Philadelphia PA but moved to Ridgefield NJ where he spent is active youth becoming an Eagle Scout and enjoying his theatrical experience in high school. He came to Michigan to attend Hope College and was proud that he was the first of now three generations to attend Hope. His life was full, exciting and rewarding. Vince had a career that took him all over the world where he could extend his knowledge and wisdom to hundreds of others. Intelligent and witty, his storytelling was unmatched and all who knew him benefitted from his humor and heart.

Vince may have left this earthly place, but his spirit certainly lives on especially in his wife of 35 years, Michelle. They had a wonderful life and love that kept them strong during the last few years. Vince’s legacy also includes his three children, Vincent IV, Timothy (Dawn) Kleyla and Jennifer (Scott) Reilly. The pride and joy he felt for his grandchildren Sophia & Tim Kleyla, and Alex & Ana Reilly was unmistakable from soccer to swimming, track, football, crew and baseball he enjoyed seeing them shine in the spotlight of athletics.

His extended family includes sister-in-law Cynthia (Edwin) Toussaint, their sons Richard, William and Andrew (Kate) Toussaint and sister-in-law Sandra (Richard) McGavern, their daughter Amy (Tom) Scalici and son Chuck (Lisa) McGavern. In addition, his nephew Daniel (Carla) Weaver, their son Gabriel and niece Dorothy (Phyllis) Weaver and their daughter Gena. Beyond family, many friends locally and around the country feel the void that is left in our lives. Vince’s “Celebration of Life” will be held in spring when rebirth abounds (details available later).
