Donald Brinks ’52

Donald Brinks ’52 of Portage, Michigan, died on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019. He was 89.

Dad loved and served the Lord all the days of his life.  He loved Hope College; he was a graduate, all 5 of his children are graduates and 5 of his 13 grandchildren are graduates.  He loved Western Seminary, as two of his grandsons are ministers and he loved the denomination – Hope Reformed in South Haven as a child and Trinity Reformed Church in Kalamazoo as an adult.  Dad was an educator, even in his final breaths he was still teaching me things.  As a professional, he taught office machines and accounting at Coloma High School, Kalamazoo Central High School and Kalamazoo Loy Norrix High.  He taught business education courses and accounting at Kalamazoo Community College and at Western Michigan University.  He was a coach (football and baseball), a golfer, a tenor in va

Survivors include his children, Kathy Brinks ’76 Waterstone, Marc Brinks ’78, Keith (Rebecca) Brinks ’80, Mary Brinks ’82 Remynse and Kevin (Robin DeWitt ’86) Brinks ’86; and 13 grandchildren.
