Stephen Bergmann ’76

Stephen P Bergmann, 64, formerly of Croghan and most recently of Prescott, AZ, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 20, 2018. He was born on Aug. 3, 1954, in Canton, NY, the son of Bernard and Lena Bergmann. He graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1972 and from Hope College, MI, in 1976, with a BA in Psychology, Geology, and Religious Studies. In 1994 he earned his MA in Special Education from the University of Arizona, Tucson.

Steve was a medical social worker. He visited disabled persons in their homes and provided Life Care Planning, counseling, referrals, and information on community resources. Steve had a big heart and was kind. He was loved by his clients and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shelley, of 19 years, two step-children, a brother, Bernie III, of Chicago, a sister, Phyllis (Andy) Noftsier, of Castorland, NY, a brother-in-law, John Hornbach, of Florida, two step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Lena Bergmann, a sister, Nancy L Hornbach, a sister-in-law, Linda S Bergmann, a niece and a nephew.
