Alma Straatsma ’57 Wilson

Alma Lorrain Straatsma Wilson, a long time resident of the area passed away at Orange Regional Medical Center on November 9, 2018 with her daughter, Victoria, by her side. The daughter of the late Elmer and Alice Straatsma, Alma was born on July 6 1935 in Sioux Center, Iowa. She devoted her life to her children and husband.  The Lord was the strength of her life, even in the midst of battling serious health issues.  She was truly an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter, Victoria Wilson of Pine Bush, her son, Hall Mark Wilson and his wife, Susan in the Hamlet of Wallkill ; many grandchildren and great grandchildren;  and her brother, Dr. Glen Straatsma of Nevada.  She also leaves behind Maurice Stranagan, a very special friend. She was a loving wife to Rev. David P. Wilson, who predeceased her by a month.  She was a loving mother and her daughter will miss her greatly. She was an excellent organist, pianist, and choir director for many years. She would eventually work side by side with her husband in their own Christian travel business, taking ministers to the Holy Land. She lived for many years in New Jersey before settling in the Pine Bush area, in the beautiful Shawangunk mountains.
