Elsie Lower ’57 Hamrick

Elsie Hamrick went home to be with her heavenly father on December 13, 2017. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan, and graduated from Hope College with a BA Degree in Elementary Education. She taught at schools in Michigan and Florida for 34 years. Her loving husband, Dr. Wallace Hamrick, passed away in January 2010. They have three precious children who are there pride and joy. Steve (Betty) a teacher at Howard Middle School, Mike (Diana) a Pastor at Sand Springs Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, KY, and Susan (Charles) Hines an attorney and trust officer at Sabal Trust in Venice FL; 8 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, and Elsie’s sister Jan in Leesburg, FL. Elsie was involved in Community Work; she was president of the GFWC Greater Ocala Women’s Club, played the piano for the Pioneer Class and the t United Methodist Women at the First United Methodist Church and held various offices in MCREA (Marion County Retired Educators Association). In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to GFWCGOWC, FUMC,, (Eunis Wayne School) or MCREA. A Memorial Service will be held December 16, 2017 (Saturday) at First United Methodist Church of Ocala 1126 East Silver Springs Blvd. Ocala FL 34470 at 11:00 am. With her son Dr. Michael Roy Hamrick officiating, followed by a Reception immediately following the memorial service.
