Cecile Gaillard ’70 Spitters

Cecile Marie Kalamazoo Cecile passed into the presence of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on October 13, 2017. She was born March 7, 1948, the daughter of Rev. Gerard and Janet (Bareman) Gaillard. Cec was employed by Gull Lake High School for close to 24 years and loved being around the young students every day. Following graduation from Hope College, Cec married Alan D. Spitters on August 15, 1970. Cec and Al enjoyed 22 years of summer vacations trailer boating in northern Michigan and especially in the remote islands of the Canadian North Channel of Lake Huron. Cec is survived by husband Al, son Scott (Joanne) of Mayer, AZ, son Steve (Lisa) of Zeeland, MI, and brother Norm (Phyllis) Gaillard of DeMotte, IN; five grandchildren, Ellie, Anna, Kenzie, and Kaden of Zeeland, MI, Jaden of Prescott Valley, AZ, and very special father-in law, C. Frank Spitters of Kalamazoo. A service to celebrate Cec’s life will take place at 6:00PM on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Haven Church, 5350 North Sprinkle Road. Pastors Keith Lohman and Lin Batts will officiate. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for dessert in the church Great Room. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 5:50PM on Tuesday at the church. Interment of ashes will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
