Sara Kauffman ’05 Pappenheimer

Sara Kauffman ’05 Pappenheimer, beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend, joined her heavenly father Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, after a heroic battle with cancer. Born Nov. 21, 1981, Sara spent the last 34 years spreading joy through her memorable laugh, brilliant smile and fun-loving spirit.

With Sara, it only took a moment for a stranger to become a friend. Sara was a member of the graduating classes of Dansville High School, 2000 and Hope College, 2004. Her smile has brightened downtown Holland as a fixture at JP’s for many years. Sara lived for her boys, Ivan and Alexander, and was never happier than when chasing them around. She loved life and, in typical Sara fashion, continuously defied expectations throughout her illness, fearlessly attacking all obstacles with her trademark jokes. With the tirelessness of the mom of two boys, Sara (aka Wonder Woman) fought to stay with the family she loved so dearly.

Sara is survived by her sons, Ivan, 9, and Alexander, 7; parents, Kenneth and Patricia Kauffman; siblings, Bryan, Erica, and Jon-Paul; grandmother, Maggie Barrix; nieces, Madison and Savannah; and countless family and friends.
