Ruth Elise Upadhyaya ’20 was born November 26, 1997, and passed away unexpectedly March 8, 2017.
She was the dear daughter of Raj and Jill (nee Sampe); fond sister of Julie; loving granddaughter of Fred Sampe and Jane Sampe.
A freshman at Hope College in Holland, MI, she will be missed by many friends and family. Her love of animals and children, including rescue dogs and working at a local daycare, were evident; as well as passion for music (voice, strings), writing, and victims of abuse (PAVE – Promote Awareness, Victim Empowerment). She had a heart for service through her church, youth group, and missions work.
Strong faith in Christ, infectious joy exhibited through her Wii “Just Dance” moves and Disney/Harry Potter trivia knowledge, and wonderful sense of humor balanced a love of learning (especially concepts in psychology and Spanish).
