Richard Reinemann ’53

Richard Reinemann ’53 a Medfield resident since 1965, died on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 85 years old.

Born in Oradell, New Jersey to the late Louis and Henrietta (Arnold) Reinemann, he was raised and educated in the Oradell Public Schools, graduated with the class of 1949, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Hope College in Holland, MI. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 19, 1953 and was stationed on Governors Island, NY, where he served in the Intelligence Office.

After his discharge from the army in 1955, he lived in New York City and New Jersey, and worked at Steinway & Sons. In 1965, he moved to Medfield. He worked at Paine Furniture in Boston, and later accepted a position as a Librarian with the Town of Medfield School Department, which he held until his retirement. He was an active member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent and the Medfield Historical Commission. In his retirement, he enjoyed photography, woodcarving, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Charlotte (Howlett) Reinemann, three loving sons, Peter H. Reinemann and his wife Christine of New Canaan, CT, Michael R. Reinemann and his wife Stephanie of Beverly, and R. Louis Reinemann, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Dover. He also leaves a sister Phyllis Thanner of Dunbarton, NH and six grandchildren, Elise, Eric, Peter Jr., Matthew, Luke, and Heidi.
