Kenneth Etterbeek ’51
Kenneth Etterbeek ’51, , age 87, of Holland died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Appledorn North in Holland.
Ken was born in Zeeland, raised in Holland and graduated from Holland High School. He attended Hope College for two years before transferring to Michigan State and graduating in 1951.
Ken was a member of Christ Memorial Church for many years where he served on the consistory as a deacon and elder. He was a life member of the Rotary Club of Holland.
Ken served our country in the naval reserve. He enjoyed going to Michigan State football games, skiing, boating, playing tennis, watching his kids play tennis and was an active member of the Holland Tennis Patrons. Ken also enjoyed his retirement years in Vero Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, O. Dawn (Diepenhorst) Etterbeek in 2006.
He is survived by his children, Susan Etterbeek ’77 (Henry ’76) DeJong of Holland, Sally and William Swets of Holland, Jeffrey and Leslie Etterbeek of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Jonathan ’86 and Laurilee Etterbeek of Grand Haven; grandchildren, Christian and Jessica DeJong, Adam DeJong, Borys and Alina Swets, Lindsey, Kristen, Elizabeth, and J.J.
